Next best thing to being there was reading this unique, personalised account of Neil’s visit. Although it’s a huge venue, the connection comes across as very intimate and an EXPERIENCE which the photos and the writing lets us all get to share in. The drawing is compelling and it needed the enlargement to bring out the beautiful detail of the Star Anise being held between finger and thumb. Love the photograph of Neil holding the drawing – he’s looking delighted, relaxed and really focused.

Mahala – thanks for the link! That makes me feel really good. Even if he wasn’t talking about my drawing, I can pretend.

Rassles – He’s gotta get to Chicago once in a while… seems more likely than Cleveland anyway. I was SHOCKED when my friend Adam sent me the link, I even called the library to make sure he was really going to be there and not just, I dunno, some random guy talking about his work. I agree with you on the hive, I was looking for hives to draw from, and the shapes SUCK. I finally gave up and made up my own, but, you know, not even sure anyone would know it was a bee hive if it weren’t for all the bees.
